Story 04

The Fathers House, Conyers GA

At The Father’s House, the pastor’s wife has created a culture that is both toxic and controlling. She routinely interjects into people’s homes and personal decisions, while struggling to manage her own. Her pattern of shaming, belittling, and correcting others — from parenting to daily choices — reinforces a rigid hierarchy where her word sits above others.

Her worldview casts nearly everything as demonic or spiritual in nature, leaving no room for nuance, support, or empathy. Even more troubling, there have been attempts to cover up a case of sexual abuse of a minor within the church.

On Mother’s Day, the church has a tradition of honoring the women with the most children, the youngest mother, and the oldest mother. This practice went on for years with little thought of those silently grieving infertility or loss — until the pastor’s own daughter faced infertility, at which point it suddenly became a major focus of attention.

The teaching in this church is so beyond understandable that a normal person walking in off the street would never encounter the love of God. Instead, they would be met by sexist, narcissistic elders who are never held accountable. Thousands upon thousands of dollars are spent on trips to Africa while the people right next door are overlooked and ignored.

Those who raise questions or express doubts are dismissed by the pastor’s wife as “people who return to their own vomit.” This kind of language silences honest conversation, shames those seeking clarity, and deepens the culture of control.
